Object Activation
The game world contains many objects, such as doors, chests, data terminals and other elements that you can interact with. These objects will be highlighted when you move the mouse cursor over them. Simply Left-click on such objects to activate them.
Some objects may require you to keep the F key pressed for a short time to fully activate them. You will see a progress bar appear above the object if this is the case. Wait for the bar to disappear before releasing the button.
Destructible Objects
Much of the environment in Inquisitor – Martyr is destructible. Some terrain elements are not just visual props, but they also bring a tactical layer to the game. You can gain advantage by destroying enemy covers or open up a new approach for yourself by blowing up columns, containers, concrete walls, etc.
Stray shots will automatically hit and damage objects, but you can also target them directly by pressing Shift while using a weapon skill. If something is destructible, the element will display a health bar as it sustains damage, similarly to the enemies, but marked with a blue color.
Different weapons will do different amounts of damage to the environment. In general, heavy weapons and explosives are better at destroying environment than pistols or rifles, although certain energy weapons like plasma guns are surprisingly good as well.
Certain environmental objects – columns, for example – collapse when they take enough damage. As you can imagine, falling rubble is rather dangerous so it’s best not to be around when something collapses. Conversely, shooting a column the enemies use as cover until it crumbles on them is a quite effective (and fun) way to make use of the environment.
Exploding Objects
Certain environmental objects – like red and blue glass containers – blow up when damaged. This is a great way to take care of large enemy groups if you can lure them near one of the containers. It can also kill you if you stand near them when they blow up, so be careful around them.
