Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr features a suppression mechanic that represents the mental and physical stress during combat situations.

Characters have a Suppression Resistance Bar – shown left from the Skill Bar – that represents your ability to withstand harmful status effects like Stun, Slow, Knockdown, etc. It works like Health, so incoming attacks will slowly decrease it, although if you are in more dangerous situations – such as facing flamers, explosions or psychic attacks – it will drain much faster.

Suppression stages:

Protected - While the Suppression bar is in the green, you are fully protected against status effects. Only select few, exceptionally strong abilities of boss creatures will affect you.

Suppressed! - Once the bar is reduced to yellow, your movement will slow down and you'll start to feel some of those other effects, like Knockback, Shock, Blind, Hallucination, Temporary Cellrot.

Overwhelmed! - When you reach the red zone, every harmful enemy ability will have a full effect on you. These are: Knockdown, Stun, Restrain, Freeze, Flee.

Suppression Resistance can be regained with using the Inoculator or standing in cover. Outside combat, it will regenerate on its own. Note that Medium and Elite class enemies have suppression resistance too. You will have to erode it if you wish to apply status effects to them.
